september.

It's the last week of September, and it sucks - because I'm sick. I can still move about though, but my flu is messing with my sense of balance, strength and giving my splitting headaches/body aches.

I feel very underaccomplished at the moment, I'm barely done with any of my university stuff, my work experience is half hanging in midair, my A2 is going to be a total mess since I haven't studied and all I feel like doing is spending time at farms and around animals (really not possible since I'm sick now) . What bad timing for everything. :(

I'm feeling a bit dozy now, so I'm going to tuck into bed with my Physics textbook and hopefully absorb some information about MRI machines.

What I want right now is anything proper I can use to scribble my work experience stuff in. It looks odd in a notebook with 4 other subjects. And I'm not liking it.

freshly baked.

Let's just say that I'm not exactly a fantastic baker/cook. Okay, scratch that. I have cooking skills that are relatively zero. Anyhow, I decided today, using my non-existent baking skills - to bake a cake for my mom's birthday at church.

I am utterly pathetic at baking. At 4 in the evening, my sister and I grabbed a small cookbook, and looked for the shortest recipe. We settled on an upside down pineapple cake. Okay, so its not made from an actual upside down pineapple, but its named after the fact that the toppings are placed into the baking tin first, and then after it is baked; the cake is flipped the other way for the finished cake.

Being the helpless-in-the-kitchen person I am, I weighed out the ingredients, and helped my sister, while she did most of the creaming and mixing. I made the pineapple slice designs though! And I substituted grapes for cherries since we didn't have cherries. It wasn't the smartest idea though, because the grapes shriveled up during the baking process.

I also did the honors of shoving the cake inside the oven for baking. It looked like the inside of a volcano. I had no idea cakes bubbled. Maybe it was the self raising flour? I would never know. D:

Anyhow, after 45 minutes, here's the final product! It looks a bit like a big round cookie. If only if it was a wee bit thicker, it would've been a proper cake. Still very adorable if you ask me. :) But I'm biased, so there!

The main point was, it tasted good! So yes, I believe I do have cooking skills, maybe at level 0.5 at the moment. For now anyway. :)

Til the next time!
